What it is
Semble is a cloud-based electronic health record (EHR) and practice management system built in the UK for private healthcare. It brings patient records, prescribing, lab results, booking, billing and patient communication into one platform. It is made by Semble Technology Limited, based in London.
Who it’s for in private general practice
Semble has a dedicated primary care offering for private GPs. It covers booking, payments, consultations, new services and CQC governance. The supplier also sells to consultants, mental health, allied health and pharmacy providers, and to solo practitioners, multi-site clinics and corporate providers.
Key capabilities
- Patient record with consultation templates, medication history, lab results, recalls and referral letters.
- Prescribing and diagnostic test ordering during the consultation, through partner pharmacies and labs. Semble says these integrations are free, and the provider charges for the service.
- Clinical decision support in consultation notes, and an integration with the Heidi AI medical scribe.
- Online booking, automated SMS and email reminders, a branded patient portal and pre-appointment questionnaires.
- Semble Pay, powered by Stripe: online, in-person and Klarna instalment payments, automated invoicing and sync with Xero. Insured patients’ invoices can be sent to Healthcode.
- Built-in video consultations, reporting, role-based access controls and audit logs.
- Data migration from other systems and an open GraphQL API.
Pricing
Semble does not publish its subscription prices. Contact the supplier for a quote.
Some add-on costs are published. Semble Pay charges Stripe’s standard transaction fees plus VAT. The ORB Connect NHS GP record viewer is £20 + VAT per clinician per month, billed with the Semble subscription. The Heidi integration is part of Heidi’s own paid plan.
NHS integrations
Semble offers an NHS GP record viewer powered by ORB Connect, a third-party service. The patient consents through NHS Login, and clinicians can then view problems, consultation notes, medications, allergies, results and letters inside Semble. Access is read only and nothing is written back to the NHS.
Semble says the integration becomes available in October 2026. It covers adults living in England. Consent is given per practice, and admin staff cannot view the records. The supplier states no other NHS integrations.
Things to check
- What the subscription costs for your number of clinicians and sites, and what the contract term is.
- Which lab and pharmacy partners are available in your area, and what they charge.
- Whether private prescriptions go to partner pharmacies only, or can also be printed or sent elsewhere.
- Which features are included and which are paid add-ons, such as the NHS GP record viewer or the AI scribe.
- How your data is migrated in, and how you would export it if you left.
- What clinical safety documentation the supplier can share.
